Dear Friends!

I am writing this letter to remind you of the purpose of the DBE
Supportive Service Program. The purpose of this program is to “seek and enhance and increase minority-owned and female–owned firms for participation in highway and other construction industries in Arkansas.” This program is a valuable and necessary resource to ensure the improved economic growth and future of firms owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in the state of Arkansas who participate in highway related construction.  Currently, we have the capacity, through either direct staff or referrals to supportive service consultants, to offer a variety of services such as:

·            Business Management Assistance
·            Professional Contractor Development and Training
·            Technical Assistance
·            Task Reimbursements
·            Financial Assistance
·            Resource Room

Friends, it has been a pleasure serving our organization; there have been some challenges and a lot of changes.  However, I personally believe that everything has worked, is working, and will be working out for the best of ALL DBEs that participate. My staff and I are striving to service DBE’s with realistic services that allow DBE’s the ability to gain and expand their capacity in Arkansas Highway related construction. We have an open door and responsive environment and my staff is available and eager to help service your DBE related needs. We will ensure that you truly feel and realize that your success and the continuance of success is our commission. Nevertheless, you have to do your part as well, and all you would have to do to begin servicing your DBE needs is to call our office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. -5 p.m.

Sincerely,
 Mizan Rahman

Success Ahead!

Most of us want to be successful and, to that end, technology has placed plenty of tools at our disposal. But even with the aid of sophisticated computers, illustrated manuals, and step-by-step videos, nothing replaces one of the oldest, most invaluable tools of success – the mentor. Of course, it is possible to be successful without the benefit of a mentor.  It’s also possible to start a fire by rubbing sticks together, build a house without a hammer, or paint a picture with your feet – but why choose the more complex route if there is a better way? Mentoring has a long and honorable history that includes advice and informal training at the side of a positive role model.  Willing individuals serve as a guide, teacher, and friend by being receptive to others who need someone to listen and provide helpful advice and suggestions. A mentor is someone with knowledge that comes from experience who helps and guides someone who can benefit from it, helping them to succeed.  And the best benefit is that mentors usually gain more than they give.  One of the greatest ways to learn is to teach.  Beyond that lies the sheer satisfaction of watching a fellow entrepreneur grow. Realizing that you contributed to that growth is a winning situation. The ADBECA Mentor Program is a part of the ADBECA DBE Supportive Services Program.  The purpose of the Program is to seek, enhance, and increase minority-owned and female-owned firms for participation in the highway construction industry in Arkansas. The ADBECA Mentor Program is about helping to provide DBEs the information and resources they need to succeed.  Call today to find out how you can participate in the ADBECA Mentor Program, either as a mentor or as a protégé.  Or, fill out this application, separate the pages, and return it by fax to the number provided. We look forward to working with you!

Yours Truly,
Tammy Armond
